Entry ini khas buat photographer yang tak sayangkan nyawa dan nyawa client yang baru berkahwin. Aksi seorang photographer yang tidak memilih tempat samada di desa atau di kota, shoot tetap shoot. Jadi, adalah amat mustahak bagi seorang photographer untuk membeli insurans nyawa sebelum menghadiri mana-mana sesi penggambaran. Jadi, langganilah Takaful Ikhlas!. Hehe

Journalistic versus Documentary Photography and me

Jarang-jarang saya kaitkan perkataan photojournalisme dengan diri saya. Bila saya search pada google, saya dapati terlalu ramai photographer-photographer di Malaysia lebih senang digelar sebagai photojournalist, atau photojournalist wedding photography, atau photojournalist style photographer dan pelbagai perkataan journalist. Dan bila buka page photojournalist ni, yang menghampakan ialah kenapa style photojournalist ini tak sama dengan style photojournalist luar Malaysia? Adakah ada cabang lain dalam photojournalisme? Adakah photo yang berposing dengan membentuk love dari tangan kiri dan kanan dikategori sebagai photojournal? Atau gambar orang disuruh melompat sambil menunjukkan "peace" kepada lensa kamera juga photojournal? Bergantung? Sebab itulah saya susah untuk menggelarkan diri sebagai photojournalist, sebab saya jarang-jarang dapat peluang untuk tangkap gambar journalistic. Ini cuma idea saya, sila buat research lebih lanjut tentang photojournalisme jika anda inginkan kepastian. Saya lebih meminati photo yang berunsurkan documentary.

Refreshing again...Pangkor's calling...

Since I need some rest, far from work, a rilexation time, alone, and so on, so i managed to fill my deepavali holiday with a sort vacation at Pangkor Island. On the paper, my plan is makan, tidur, mandi laut, tidur, makan and mandi laut again. No special activity at all. But since i bring together my camera, so i managed to shoot some 'point and shoot' picures (not much and no planning) bcoz my objective is, relax. Here is the pictures:
A sunset. I shoot on 1st day during relaxed at the beach. I brought wrong equipment actually, I shoot this picture using 70-300mm lense. I'm enjoying to shoot candid at the beach but when the sunset come, I've no choice. I found and made chit chat whit a mat salleh girl from UK before I shoot this picture. She also a photography fun, holding a 50D with 50mm on it. I remember the words she said "Im so addicted to photography". Owh, ya i see that.
Fiza's portrait. I found her on the 1st day at lumut ( i never know her before). She came with her friend Filza (mostly same name). Since we're in the same ferry, so I try to look pleasing with them and they're comfort with it. Since they're also checked-in at nearest challet, we have a plenty time to chit chat and do activities together.
Since Fiza is a "part timer" model, i took an appotunity to shoot her. This is a trial CLS of me with fiza. She dnt have a problem to pose in front of camera, but i look myself over acted on this picture. Hahaha.

Ummu Hubaibah akad nikah at Masjid Tinggi
|
|
Cik Ummi (now puan) is my 1st client after Hari Raya, Raya ke-3. Introduced to me by Puan Hanim, thanx. I.m travelling from Klang to Bagan Serai for their event, akad nikah at Masjid Tingggi. But since I already made a deal with them, so its my responsible to make their happy moment captured and translated piece by pice to image. Now they're waiting for their next event held on December. Im waiting for that event too..hehe
SIGH...
Many things happen to me for the last two months. Good thing and bad thing. I feel bad to mention those things here. Luckily, i got supported from my friends who know my situation, but "berat mata memandang berat lagi bahu memikul". A million thanx to my friends who always stand behind me. Still, i have to learn from it....and more things that I never face before.

Dengan hormatnya saya mengishtiharkan bahawa ini adalah kali ke-4 saya tak berhari raya dengan keluarga, tak bermaaf-maafan di pagi raya, dan tak rasa hingarnya suasana petang sebelum raya.
Sedih? Ehehe..tipu plak kalau tak. Tapi adik & kakak ada, so kena controll macho. Bukan suka-suka tak balik, cuti kurang, and adik pun sama.
Bagi saya beraya dimana-mana pun sama. Cukup lah berseronok zaman kanak-kanak dulu, tiap kali raya memang masa paling seronok. Dah besar-besar ni bukan tak seronok, tapi lebih kepada rasionalisme nya pulak. Kalau balik pun hanya 2 hari, then i have to spend 3-4K for that (tak termasuk adik), dah membazir pulak. Last year, spent not less than 5K (me alone).
Then, bermaaf-maafan, bila-bila masa pun boleh. Lebih baik, setiap kali call mama, selitkan sedikit kata-kata terima kasih dan mohon maaf, daripada mintak maaf sekali setahun, tak sampai 2 minit tu.
Tapi raya tetap raya
apapun pendapat saya, raya tetap lebih bagus kalau dapat bersama dengan keluarga sendiri.....

Rasdindra (dan Plan Outing)

FP problem pulak kat office sejak minggu lepas, mungkin pihak MIS dah block IP saya dari sign-in FP saya. Walaupun masih boleh melayari FP ni, tapi tak boleh sign-in akaun saya.
Mintak maaf kepada cikgu Rasdi (Rasdindra) sebab saya cuba untuk meniru hasil kerja idolanya, Rarindra, walaupun tak berapa menjadi. Memang best layan hasil kerja Rarindra ni, ada feeling. Cuma bagi sesetengah orang tak suka photo yg diolah terlalu banyak sampai hilang originallity nya, termasuk la saya. Pun begitu, kalau layan sekali-sekala editing camni, best jugak.
"ajis.. serious laa.. mmg kaler tu dah jadik laa...
tinggal bab bayang yg hg kata tu...
dan rarindra punya trademark, ray of light jaa...
ray of light laa... aku rasa dia buat guna photoshop ja kot... " Azmean..
Thanx mean dengan komen di atas. Yang sebenarnya, hasil di atas dengan hasil Rarindra yang sebenar memang sangat jauh berbeza, dan cuma 1 step dari 100 step Rarindra. Saya cuma try and error. Untuk mendapatkan hasil yang baik, gambar yang ditangkap juga mesti ada unsur ray of light.
Jadi, lepas raya ni nak plan dua outing dengan kawan-kawan. Yang pertama, lighting. Saya sediakan seorang model untuk kawan-kawan photographer praktis teknik-teknik pencahayaan yang boleh memberikan efek yang bagus. Ke-dua, ray of light. Yang ni Azmean dah plan lama dulu tapi tak pernah jadi. Harap lepas raya ni boleh. Setuju dengan Azmean, ray of light ni banyak terdapat dalam karya-karya Rarindra, elemen wajib. Kedua-dua outing (tambah satu lagi outing eagle feeding) masih dalam perancangan, dan akan diupdate kemudian. Rasdi & Azmean, lets pray for these outings .

'Lighting' dan kegilaan Azmean
|
|
Bila dapat tahu Azmean akan balik kampung (Kamunting) hujung minggu lepas, dah terbayang dia mesti akan bercerita tentang 'lighting' sebab dalam email memang tengah rancak sembang tentang lighting ni dengan dia. Macam tu lah, setiap kali balik kampung, ada je benda baru (baru bagi saya, bukan Azmean) dia nak cuba. Mula-mula kenal dulu, dia 'gila' dengan photojournalist, maka outing lah kami buat street photography merata Taiping. Kemudian birding pula, berjam-jam lah dia tunggu tepi tingkap nak shoot burung. Tiba-tiba layan aeroplane, anak dia la jadi mangsa peneman pegi airport. Kali ni lighting. Em, layan..jangan tak layan. Dinamik betul sahabatku ini. Ntah lepas ni tak tau apa pulak.
Jadi memandangkan bulan puasa ni banyak masa free, layan juga lah outing dengan tema 'lighting'. Disebabkan last minute, tak sempat lah nak cari model. Takpa, janji on. Outing ni dibuat di World War ll Memorial Park, Taiping.
Disebabkan takde model, ni lah padahnya..
Kemudian, saya pulak yang gila lighting. Balik rumah, layan lagi, pakai timer & tripod pada speedlight.
Teringin pula nak bermain lighting ni lebih jauh...
